Your street.
Your voice.

ARGUS lets Western Sydney residents report local issues in under 60 seconds. AI categorises, deduplicates, and scores every report — making it impossible for councils to quietly ignore community concerns.

The Problem
Councils can dismiss your report. No record. No pressure. No accountability.
Current reporting systems are opaque portals that feed into bureaucratic black holes. Residents have no visibility into whether their report was even read — let alone acted on.
The Digital Divide Makes It Worse
Existing tools exclude older residents, people with disabilities, and non-English speakers — the very communities most affected by poor infrastructure. Accessibility is the foundation, not a nice-to-have.
How It Works
Report in under 60 seconds.
Four steps from "I see a problem" to "it's on the public record."
Snap a Photo
Open ARGUS and capture the issue. The photo is the AI's raw material for instant categorisation.
GPS Auto-Tags Location
Your location is automatically pinned. No typing addresses. Just precise coordinates.
AI Categorises Instantly
A vision model assigns category and severity with a confidence score — you can override if needed.
Goes Public With Pressure
Your report joins the community feed and map. Others upvote, comment, and share — creating accountability.

AI Innovation
Five AI systems. Not a wrapper.
Each AI component solves a distinct problem — together they create a system genuinely smarter than the sum of its parts.
Smart Photo Categorisation
A vision model analyses submitted photos and returns an issue category, sub-category, and severity estimate with a confidence score. Residents can override — but most won't need to.
Duplicate Detection
Text embeddings + cosine similarity detect if your report matches an existing issue — within ~100m, same category, similar description. Duplicates amplify the priority score, not get discarded.
Priority Scoring Engine
A composite 1–10 score synthesises AI severity, community upvotes, duplicate count, and geospatial proximity to schools, hospitals, and transport hubs. High scores surface first in feeds and map.
Live Multilingual Translation
Western Sydney is one of Australia's most linguistically diverse regions. ARGUS automatically translates reports and the community feed into English, Arabic, Hindi, Vietnamese, and Simplified Chinese — so language is never a barrier to being heard.
“يوجد حفرة كبيرة في الطريق”
“There is a large pothole on the road”
“路灯坏了,夜晚很危险”
“The streetlight is broken, dangerous at night”
“Có rác thải bất hợp pháp ở đây”
“There is illegal dumping here”
Verbal Report Submission
Can't type? Just talk. Say “Hey ARGUS” and describe the issue out loud. Whisper transcribes your speech and GPT-4o-mini structures it into a fully pre-filled report — category, severity, description — ready to submit in one tap.
Community Feed
Social pressure is the accountability mechanism.
Every report is a public record. Residents upvote, comment, and share — creating community momentum that's impossible to quietly dismiss.
Large pothole causing damage to vehicles. Has been here for 3 weeks.
Large pile of construction waste dumped on footpath overnight.
Streetlight has been out for a week — dangerous for pedestrians at night.
Interactive Map
See every issue. Know which ones matter most.
Colour-coded pins reflect priority scores. Clusters reveal hotspots. Category filters let residents and officials zero in on what needs attention now.
Why Western Sydney
Infrastructure that serves everyone.Or serves no one.
Western Sydney is Australia's fastest-growing region — and one of its most underserved. The communities who need civic tools most are the ones least equipped to use them.
Accessibility by Design
Large touch targets, plain language, and future multi-language support ensure the digital divide doesn't exclude those most affected.
Public Accountability
Every report is a permanent public record. Councils can't quietly archive what the whole community can see, share, and amplify.
Data for Better Decisions
Aggregated priority scores give councils better signal than traditional complaint portals — reducing response time and resource waste.
The Closing-the-Loop Promise
Report it. Watch it move. Know it happened.
Status updates flow back to the community — from "Acknowledged" to "In Progress" to "Resolved." Trust is built through transparency.
Hackathon Judging
Built to score well on every axis.
Each judging criterion shaped product decisions — not retrofitted after the fact.
Real problem evidenced by 1,801 council complaints, two misconduct investigations ending with findings, and no watchdog power to step in on everyday council decisions.
60-second reporting flow, polished design system, mobile-responsive, map + feed MVP demoable end-to-end.
5 distinct AI systems: vision categorisation, duplicate detection, priority scoring, live multilingual translation, and verbal report submission. Not a ChatGPT wrapper.
Clear narrative: snap → submit → track. Problem → solution → impact in 3 minutes. Western Sydney urgency is the hook.
